Twitter was in a tizzy after people noticed that 15-year-old Sasha Obama was missing from dad's farewell address in Chicago Tuesday.
"Ok is Sasha Obama the designated survivor?" one woman tweeted. "Can we get a Find my Sasha app update on her location plz?"
"but really did Barack only get two guest tickets to his farewell speech?" another mused.
Turns out Sasha just had an exam to study for — a head-scratching excuse that First Lady Michelle Obama addressed on The Tonight Show Wednesday.
"She had a final. And it's like, 'You know the Obamas, girl. Sorry! You have to take your test. You can say goodbye later,' " FLOTUS joked
"I thought that was the best example for how to be a good student, but also be a good parent," replied host Jimmy Fallon.
Michelle also talked about Malia, her other daughter who *did* manage to make it to Barack's final speech as Commander in Chief; the 18-year-old was just as teary-eyed as the rest of us as her dad gave his remarks.
"(Malia) looked over at me and she says, 'I can't believe I'm going to cry through the whole speech,' " Michelle revealed. "And I said, 'It's OK, It's all right.' "
The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions for the Obamas, who will move out of the White House in a matter of DAYS.
"It's nuts. I feel like crying right now," Michelle said. "I didn't think that it was going to be that emotional because it's like, 'Yeah, we're ready. Yeah, we're good. It's been eight years. Eight years is enough. We're packing up.'"
"But no," she admitted, "it has been surprisingly emotional for all of us in ways that we didn't expect."
We know exactly how you feel, Michelle.
