RIP: Cuba Gooding, Sr

Police are investigating the drug-related death of Soul singer Cuba Gooding, Sr. He was found unresponsive in a silver Jaguar parked on Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills, California on Thursday.
The 72-year-old former Main Ingredient lead singer was father of troubled Oscar-winner Cuba Gooding Jr.
Sources tell TMZ paramedics were called to the scene and attempted to resuscitate him. But their efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.
Police suspect Gooding, Sr. died from a drug overdose.
Gooding was the lead singer of the 1970s group The Main Ingredient, and enjoyed chart success with the singles “Just Don’t Don’t Want To Be Lonely” and “Everybody Plays the Fool”.
The latter hit song was used in a campaign to help boost black voter turnout for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
“We hope this song will inspire the masses to exercise their right to vote and not let any attempt at stopping them succeed,” Gooding Sr. said of the Everybody’s Got to Vote campaign. “The world is definitely changing… We had better do more than just hope that change will be good.”
Cuba and his wife, Shirley, were married twice. He leaves behind four children, including actors Cuba and Omar Gooding.
