Republicans Pass Healthcare Bill to Repeal & Replace Obamacare

President Trump

When President Donald Trump took the oath of office in January, he wasted no time dismantling former President Barack Obama’s legacy. Obama had hoped to be remembered as the president who reformed healthcare in America and freed the gays.
Now Obama’s signature piece of legislation — the Affordable Care Act, nicknamed Obamacare, is in jeopardy.
Members of the GOP voted on the House floor today to pass President Trump’s new healthcare bill. The GOP had the necessary votes (217) to repeal and replace Obamacare without a single vote from the Democrats.
Recall that Obamacare was passed without a single vote from Republicans in 2010.
There are still a few hurdles along the way to repealing Obamacare. The vote will go to the Senate — which is controlled by Republicans. But analysts say the Senate will certainly make changes to Trump’s healthcare plan before it passes in the Senate.
The next stop after that is President Trump’s desk.
Today is a huge victory for President Trump’s young presidency.
