Ariana Grande Suspends Tour After 22 Concertgoers Die in Explosion in UK; ISIS Claims Responsibility for Bombing



A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with the bombing that killed 22 and injured over 50 at an Ariana Grande concert Monday in Manchester, England,


12 children under the age of 16 were killed during the terrorist attack by a suicide bomber outside the Manchester Arena.

59 concertgoers were injured and were treated for shrapnel wounds at 4 Manchester area hospitals.
The bombing occurred at around 10.40pm local time (5:30 pm EST), minutes after Grande finished her concert and left the stage. The audience was made up of mostly teenagers and small children.
23-year-old Salman Abedi, loitering outside the box office area of the venue, detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) that was packed with nails, nuts and bolts to inflict maximum damage to victims.
The bomber’s remains have been identified but police have not released the name of the man who was arrested after the bombing.
Grande, 23, took to Twitter early Tuesday morning to express her sorrow, saying she is “broken”.
“Broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don’t have words,” she tweeted.
A rep for Grande says she has suspended her world tour in the wake of the tragedy.
Ariana has reportedly suspended her tour in the wake of the bombing, canceling her scheduled gig in London on Thursday and shelving the rest of her upcoming European tour dates, according to TMZ.com.
A statement from Ariana’s management team, headed by Scooter Braun, added: “Tonight, our hearts are broken. Words cannot express our sorrow for the victims and families harmed in this senseless attack.
“We mourn the lives of children and loved ones taken by this cowardly act. We are thankful for the selfless service tonight of Manchester’s first responders who rushed towards danger to help save lives. We ask all of you to hold the victims, their families, and all those affected in your hearts and prayers.”
The tragedy brought out the worst in social media users who used the morbid occasion to increase their followers and bring attention to themselves.
