Prosecutors released an excerpt of a suicide note left by disgraced NFL player Aaron Hernandez to his fiancée Shayanna Jenkins.
Hernandez, who committed suicide in his prison cell in April, wrote “YOU’RE RICH!” to Jenkins in a letter that was first revealed by NBC Boston.
“Shay, You have always been my soul-mate and I want you to live life and know I’m always with you,” Hernandez wrote in the letter.
Hernandez’s letter suggests Jenkins knew in advance he would take his own life behind bars.
“I told you what was coming indirectly! I love you so much and know you are an angel … Tell my story fully but never think anything besides how much I love you.”
The letter asked Jenkins to use some of her financial windfall to take care of 2 men whose names were redacted by prosecutors. “Those are my boys,” Hernandez wrote.
The 27-year-old former wide reciever left 3 suicide notes next to a bible in his cell. The notes were addressed to Jenkins, the couple’s 4-year-old daughter, Aviele, and Hernandez’s rumored prison lover, Kyle Kennedy.
Hernandez was serving a life sentence for the shooting death of his friend Odin Lloyd in 2013.
Hernandez’s attorneys petitioned the state to throw out his murder conviction so Jenkins can receive millions in salary and bonuses owed to him by the New England Patriots.
