Rapper Tekashi69 caught
a break during his sentencing hearing in a Manhattan court on Friday.
The 22-year-old rapper faced 3 years in prison for violating the terms of a
plea agreement.
Tekashi was sentenced to
4 years probation for violating the terms of his plea agreement stemming from a
2015 arrest for using a child for indecent purposes. He must perform 1,000
hours of community service and he can not affiliate with any street gangs.
Tekashi was not ordered to register as a sex offender, according to The
Blast.
Tekashi,
whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was surrounded by bodyguards as he arrived
to the New York Supreme Courthouse in Manhattan on Friday.
The rainbow
haired rapper was arrested in 2015 and charged with the use of a minor child in
a sex film performance. He was also arrested in May 2018 for choking out a
teenage fan in Houston, Texas.
Tekashi spoke
softly and begged the judge not to throw him in prison. He said his goal was to
be the “biggest superstar” he can be and he wants to use his power to help kids
like him.
The “Gummo” rapper,
who also goes by 6ix9ine, concluded by saying, “There are people who deserve to
be in jail but Daniel Hernandez is not one of them.”
Tekashi’S
entourage was reportedly prepared to say their goodbyes to him in court today.
